Nature & The vineyards
The wine route
The Alsace Wine Route is a 170 km-long itinerary through picture-perfect scenery featuring beautifully tended vineyards, proud ruined medieval castles, ancient walled villages, Romanesque churches and magnificent renaissance fountains.
Bestheim Winery
Besthiem is a cooperative winery founded in 1765. Its vines grow on a remarkable patchwork of different terroirs and it has established itself as a reference in Crémant d’Alsace sparkling wine. The winery, which is right on the Alsace Wine Route, sells a range of over 40 different wines. Commentated wine tastings can be organized on request at the winery boutique.
Schoppenwihr park
This romantic, 40-hectare park, just 10 minutes from the hotel, was awarded the Jardin Remarquable or Outstanding Garden label by the French Ministry of Culture. It is France’s first botanical garden and visitors will enjoy its admirable landscaping which uses nature to create magnificent sceneries.
Stroll through a sequence of wonderful spaces, from the majestic plane tree avenue, landscaped main courtyard and castle ruins, to the mirror ponds and wide expanse of flower-filled fields and meadows. The park’s huge, lovingly-tended old trees, exhibited like works of art, are a must-see.
